I absolutely love the annotated Volume 6. While I own the “pink set”, I found myself not reading it as often as I wanted for a variety of reasons, including lacking much of the cultural place and time Charlotte was experiencing. I felt it another thing “to-do” to look up what I wasn’t sure about and became discouraged. The annotated Volume 6 has made Charlotte’s writing accessible for the modern parent who may not have the time, energy, or desire to look up references to people and philosophies. I am so grateful for these, they fill such a need in my homeschooling life!

I love Charlotte Mason, and over time I’ve learned how to read her. But no matter how easily I can read her Victorian speech now, you still have to deal with all the completely unexplained references to the things she assumed readers would just know. She usually doesn’t even use first names when referring to famous writers and philosophers, so how am I supposed to know which one she means?? And no author for the books and poems mentioned! For years, I’ve mostly ignored the references and gleaned what I could based on context. Now I don’t have to! These annotated editions are an invaluable help!

I love these Annotated Editions!! As a busy homeschooling mom pursuing a PhD in education, I’m am so THANKFUL that I don’t have to take extra time to look up all the undocumented quotations and obscure references in CM’s volume 1 and now volume 6! This is a huge time saver, allows me to be accurate and clear in my citations of CM, and makes the volumes so much more accessible. I have volume 6 in the original, Mind to Mind (an abridged and lightly annotated volume 6), and now this–and, while those are wonderful, this is the best of both worlds with all the original text and yet thorough annotations for clarity and ease of reading. Thanks for all the hard work!
