A Charlotte Mason Special Needs Consultation looks at where your child is developmentally, academically, and socio-emotionally to create a completely customized plan to help your child take the next step in his education. No more stressing about being behind, whether or not you missed something, or wasting money on programs that don’t work for your child!

WHAT IS A SPECIAL NEEDS CONSULTATION?

A Special Needs Consultation will help you apply a Charlotte Mason education from a developmental perspective instead of a grade (or age) perspective.

It evaluates where your child is and what the next step is; not where he “should be.”

It is completely personalized and takes into account not only the needs of your child and your family, but also considers your needs as the teacher.

It will not shoehorn your child into a category or curriculum, or limit your choices to a pre-selected list of accommodations.

I know you desperately want to give your child an education perfectly fitted to his needs, but sometimes you just don’t know where to start, or how to help him take the next step, and are afraid you might leave out a crucial component.

I can help.

A Special Needs Consultation looks at where your child is developmentally, academically, and socio-emotionally to create a completely customized plan to help your child take the next step in his education.

Schedule your consultation today. I look forward to helping you create an education perfectly fitted to your child’s needs.

Amy had consulted with both our kids in the past and helped with getting my sons educational plan and transcripts ready, as he now wants to try a public high school. Her advice was so helpful for us to help through this transition!

Wow. Just, wow. Amy saw things no other professional could see, things I’ve been concerned about for years with no answers. I couldn’t have asked for a better consult, it was worth every penny. Amy knows her stuff and, through the testing and questionnaires, will come to know your child. This is a powerful combination that has completely upended our homeschooling for the better. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I just want to give a review for the AMAZING Amy Elizabeth Bodkin. I had a special needs consultation with her and it was absolutely one the BEST investments that I have EVER made. The testing she did was so thorough and the two hour zoom consultation afterwards was SO helpful and gave me absolute peace, clarity and direction. She then followed it up with an email with my daughters various test scores and broke down each subject with her recommendations and even links to various tools to help. Amy definitely knows what she is talking about and is worth every, single penny! I am one extremely grateful mama right now. <3

Very detailed & thorough! A fantastic aid to our homeschool this year.

I’ve been struggling the last while with some of our children, who have various diagnoses & learning challenges. Amy was able to give me details on how to successfully homeschool each child, as well as numerous tips to help save time/energy in my homeschool classroom overall. Most importantly, Amy listens to your concerns. The testing she uses gives a very clear picture of each child’s strengths and weaknesses. Drawing from her vast wealth of knowledge & experience lends itself to a very positive (& productive!!) experience.

It’s well worth checking her out!

My consultation with Amy was “hands down” one of the best investments I have made as a homeschool mom of a special needs child. Since Amy not only homeschools her special needs children, she also is neurodiverse. Her expertise in special needs education in addition to a Charlotte Mason philosophy of education is a perfect asset to any special needs homeschool. I have viewed homeschooling a child with special needs similar to a mountain expedition. Amy considers the kind of education you want to provide for your children and helps you draft a plan to get to the top like that of a mountain guide. She is indispensable in my opinion. She is so affirming in her approach to help you see that you are more than able to teach your unique children who have special challenges. Get the consult; you won’t regret it.

I had a consult with Amy at the start of this school year, hoping for help in where to start with my son in our first year of homeschooling. I finished the consult feeling like I had a comprehensive, workable plan for the year.

(We had previously tried an all in one, premade curriculum and I found myself having to alter almost everything to tailor it to where my son was at and how he learns.)

Amy was incredibly thorough and offered concrete suggestions on each subject area. Some seemed reasonable and others I was dubious about but we tried all of them. Much of her suggested plan felt way too easy and I wasn’t sure how effective it would be. However, several months in, it was clear my son had picked up a good deal! And it didn’t even feel hard! (This says a lot given most everything seems to feel hard for my son.) The way in which he was learning also seemed very in sync with Charlotte Mason’s philosophy- inspired by the ideas presented in stories we were reading.

Hoping to try the Developmental Guides this year now that we have a bit of a start.

After exhausting my local public school testing and teaching resources, trying independent testing and private school options, I made the terrifying decision to homeschool our 11 yr. old special needs daughter. She had been making little to no progress in spite of hours/years of time and tears invested so perhaps our risk was low. The schools simply are not equipped for providing what my daughter needed. That didn’t leave me feeling less overwhelmed or alone. I found Amy during one of my normal desperate internet/youtube research sessions and was thrilled to see that she offered consultations. We couldn’t be happier or more appreciative. I am so thankful for Amy and people like her who fight for the little human treasures inside each of our children. Her testing and evaluation were far more thorough and insightful than anything we have done previously. I look forward to applying her recommendations and ideas and feeling more confident in our homeschooling direction and experience. I know for sure that my daughter is far better off. Thank you Amy!!!!!! You really are a Rock Star!!!!

Amy Bodkin’s consult is well worth your time. Our daughter has had evaluations at three hospitals and the public school district. Amy’s evaluation has been the most thorough by far. She looked at everything from NICU records to our Myers-Briggs types. It was so nice to have someone tie together all the pieces of the puzzle.

I consulted with Amy after educational testing with the school district left me with many unanswered questions about my son’s memory, spelling struggles, reading comprehension, reading speed, and reading skills that were just not keeping pace with our CM curriculum. I now understand exactly what the struggles are and how to proceed to proceed to help my son. Thank you!

We got a special needs consultation with Amy, as we are starting homeschooling with our middle school daughter. Amy has really helped us understand where she may need additional help at this time and how to help bring her education back into balance. I am sure I will be meeting with her again, as homeschooling with special educational needs had been a bit overwhelming for me. Thanks so much Amy for your insight and professional guidance!

When I first moved to the area Amy reached out to me in a home school group on FB when I had a question. We chatted a little and I felt like I would be able to talk or share with her. It was fun to connect to another mom. Later on we had the opportunity to chat and over time I found out how knowledgeable she is about child development. It’s hard for me to share personal things about my family but Amy was very easy to work with, accommodating and non-judgemental. Her ideas were without pressure and focused on what we could actually accomplish and not some fantasy. I’m pretty slow to go over things and the timeline wasn’t rushed. Afterwards, she has 6 months of being able ask questions and whatever I needed. I have been enjoying many of her suggestions. She is a gifted and caring person.

Meeting Amy has been such a gift! As a special needs mama, a lot of life has been overwhelming since my little girl was tiny. Academics have always been difficult for her, and the idea of middle school felt very scary. In the back of my mind I’ve always felt like if I couldn’t find the exact classroom she needed, I would create it myself- even if I felt very intimidated. When I started to google info on special needs homeschooling, I stumbled upon a YouTube video with Amy and Rachel. I booked a consult right away. Amy has gone above and beyond for each step of this process. She took the time to get to know my child’s strengths and weaknesses academically and behaviorally over email before we even had our meeting. When it finally was time for our consultation, she had curricula in mind for each strength and weakness my daughter possessed. It was such a productive meeting and I learned so much. I’m so grateful to her and can’t wait to see how my daughter does with these new materials. I’m feeling hopeful again and have not felt that way in a LONG time. THANK YOU AMY!!

Amy is a breath of fresh air! She understands the public education system, yet with her background in neuropsychology is able to truly understand the child. Because of her background in public education she understands the pain of trying to utilize the public education system to help your child, what you might have been told and your story. She confirmed everything I had researched about the brain and learning and gave me more information I was not aware of. She was the first professional that TRULY understood my child, my situation and how to help us PRACTICALLY. I wish I could give her 100 stars!

What can I say about Amy other than 5 stars? She was so thorough, in-depth, professional, but mixed it so well with putting me at ease, friendliness, and comfort. She lead me through everything and was not high pressure.

Once testing was done she had a lot of great ideas and resources to recommend. She touched on issues that I hadn’t even thought of and yet she saw them. We are just beginning on this new journey and I know she has my back and is there when I have questions or any confusion. I am so happy we found her via a friend’s referral.

Amy truly is a blessing. She was very thorough in the process of finding where my child was. Because of her, our homeschool is going much better. I’d definitely recommend her. As a special needs parent, I felt very alone and not sure I was homeschooling him to the best of my ability. Amy gave me great ideas and it’s going better than ever now.
